SCSU Husky Football Advances to NCAA Quarter Finals at Northwest Missouri State
12/04/2013 - 4:00 AM
SCSU will square off with Northwest Missouri State University this Saturday in the quarterfinal of the NCAA playoffs. This is just the second time SCSU has reached the quarterfinal of the NCAA playoffs. Northwest Missouri is ranked second in the nation and were a perfect 11-0 on the season, and defeated the UMD-Bulldogs last weekend. Both Henderson State and Minnesota-State Mankato were also undefeated, before being defeated by the Huskies.
The Huskies will be without seniors Renard Robinson and Marvin Matthews, as both have been suspended for one game after being arrested in downtown St. Cloud, Saturday evening. SCSU are already without seniors Jack Moro and Eli Shoemaker.
Quaterback, Phillip Klaphake and defensive back, Jack Moro have been named to the Daktronics Super Region 3 Team. Moro is a first team pick for the second straight year. He broke the school record for interceptions (21) this season and led the NSIC with seven interceptions. Klaphake has been named to the second team. He's broken records this season for the most passing yards in a single game (512), tied the single game record for passing touchdowns (five, done twice this season), set the single season passing yards record (3,379), he has the most passing yards in school history (11,092) and the total offense (13,577 yards). Klaphake is a four-time All-NSIC member. He is also a Harlon Hill candidate.
