SCSU’s baseball team started off the NSIC season with a bang at the Metrodome over the weekend. The Huskies took on the Cougars from the University Sioux Falls in pair of doubleheaders. The Huskies scored 35 runs in the series and in the first game on Friday night the Huskies senior pitcher, Scott Lieser threw a no hitter in the 10-0 victory. That set the table for the rest of the weekend. The Huskies rolled to a 10-2 victory in the second game Friday night before rounding out the weekend with a pair of wins Saturday 10-3 and 5-2.
The NSIC has honored Lieser for his outstanding performance this week, giving him the title of NSIC Pitcher of the Week. It was a near perfect game for him, the only Cougar to reach base was due to a hit by pitch. He has a 2.01 ERA with 25 strikeouts through 31.1 innings on the young season.
The Huskies are now 15-2 on the season and head Fayette, Iowa to take on the Peacocks of Upper Iowa University this weekend for another twin bill with against a conference opponent.
