Soccer Shutout in Colorado
09/05/2010 - 10:00 AM
A trip to Colorado yielded no goals for the St. Cloud State soccer team who were shutout in a pair of matches this weekend in Durango. The Huskies fell in a heartbreaker on Saturday by a score of 1-0 to Fort Lewis College and also dropped a 1-0 contest Sunday to Mesa State College.
For the first time under Coach Becky Heiberger, the Huskies fell in their season opener. St. Cloud and Fort Lewis played to a scoreless draw until the game’s 89th minute when Torrey Larson scored for the Skyhawks with only 59 seconds left in the game. In Sunday’s game, the SCSU offense was again unable to get on the scoreboard as the Huskies find themselves 0-2 to start the season.
St. Cloud hosts the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Festival this weekend, and KVSC will be broadcasting Sunday’s game between the Huskies and Moorhead live on 88.1 FM. Ben Prchal and Zack Fisch will have the call with kick-off slated for 2 P.M.
