Soccer Wins, Ties on Weekend
09/21/2009 - 10:45 AM
Goal scoring had been a problem for the Saint Cloud State soccer team until they visited Wayne State on Saturday. The Huskies erupted for five goals as they defeated the Wildcats 5-1. Sophomore Alexandra Pafko started off the scoring for Saint Cloud as she notched her first goal of the season with an assist from Gabrielle Najera. After a 1-0 halftime score, the Huskies opened up the floodgates in the second half as they scored four goals, two by Chelsey Permenter. Pafko added an assist in the game and Najera finished with two helpers on the contest.
The Huskies traveled to Augustana on Sunday to take on the Vikings and ended up playing in their third double-overtime game of the season. Elizabeth Kelly made eight saves in the contest as the game ended in a 0-0 tie. The Huskies are now 2-2-3 overall and 1-0-1 in the Northern Sun Conference.
