Softball Season Ends
05/03/2010 - 11:05 AM
The SCSU softball team’s season ended this weekend with four consecutive losses as they were swept by Augustana on Saturday and Wayne State on Sunday. SCSU dropped game one of the Saturday’s double header by a score of 8-1 to the division leading Vikings, and fell 3-2 in extra innings in game two. The Huskies played Wayne State tough on Sunday but lost a pitching duel 1-0 in game one, and dropped the second contest by a score of 3-2. While the results were not what S-C-S-U wanted, they were overshadowed by senior night and by the “Silent No More- Ovarian Cancer Awareness 2010” event that took place Saturday. The Huskies honored junior right fielder Kelly Laas who was diagnosed with ovarian cancer earlier this year. As part of the events, St. Cloud players Lizzy Dwyer and Kelly Olson had their hair cut over 10 inches to donate to “Locks of Love.”
SCSU finished the season with a 21- 27 record under Coach Paula U’Ren and were 8 -18 in the conference.
