The St. Cloud State softball team went 0-for-the-weekend, losing all four games they played at Selke Field. The Huskies were swept by Augustana on Friday and were swept by Wayne State on Saturday.
On Friday, the Huskies took an early lead in game one against the #22-ranked Vikings courtesy of a two-run home run by junior Nicole Steinle. However, Augie’s Janelle Trautmann blasted a home run in the top of the fifth to cap the comeback and give the Vikings the win.
Augustana used four home runs to take game two from SCSU and earn the sweep.
On Saturday the Huskies hosted Wayne State at Selke and lost a pair of close games. The Huskies got a run in the first inning of game one but could not push another runner across the plate and eventually fell by a score of 2-1. Junior Jordan Grell had an RBI double to score Mikayla Hogan for the lone Husky run.
The Huskies once again were stymied by the Wayne State staff in game two and again only managed a single run, falling 3-1.
The softball team is now 18-22 overall and 4-10 in NSIC play. They are back on the diamond on April 11th at Southwest Minnesota State for the start of eight straight on the road.
