It was a successful week for the SCSU Men’s and Women’s Swim and Dive team at the NCAA National Winter Championships in Birmingham, Alabama. On Wednesday, SCSU’s Luke Weber won a Division II National Title in the three-meter dive. Weber posted a score of 71.4 on his last dive to win the event. He was named the Male Diver of the Year by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America.
In the second day of the event on Thursday, the SCSU Women’s team set three school records. The first coming in the preliminary round of the 400 medley relay with a time of 3:47:91. The Huskies Erin Hart set a new school mark in the 100 back starting off the medley with a time of 56.96. Kellyn Craig set another SCSU record in the preliminary race of the 200 free relay with a time of 4:26:19.
The men’s team left Birmingham with 120 points, good for 12th place while the women tallied 116 points for a 16th place finish. The teams combined for 11 All-American Honors and set seven new school records during the competition. Huskies diving coach Tracy Torgerson was named CSCAA DII Men's Diving Coach of the Year.
