1.) When did you get involved with 88.1 FM?
I started my training in June 2011, and finished it the first week of fall semester 2011.
2.) What show(s) do you currently host on KVSC and what programs have you hosted in the past?
Currently, I host the Wednesday Late Night Progressive Rock, usually without pants. I try to fill in as much as I can and I’ve been filling in on Morning Show part 1s and Afternoon Progressive Rock shows, I also did the Granite City Rock Café part 1 once. I’ll fill in on anything though, usually without pants.
3.) Please list some of the artists and musicians you consider to be a must play on your show(s)?
I really love local music, so depending on the show I’ll play anything local that I can. For example, if you listen to a show of mine, you’ll probably hear some form of the Doomtree collective. Also I’ve played a lot of the Ravonettes lately, each time I play them, I’m impressed.
4.) Why are you involved with independent community radio at 88.1 FM?
I’m involved with KVSC because I love music. I love hearing new music and also playing music for others. The reason what got me interested in KVSC was being down in the office/studio area for some reason last year and just being in awe of how cool the atmosphere…there’s posters, couches, audio equipment everywhere. It made me think “Wow, I really just want to hang out down here.” So I started the training.
5.) What is in your personal CD player, iPod, or mp3 right now (BE HONEST)?
My iPod is currently set on “Brick in the Wall” by The Tribe & Big Cats! Earlier today I was listening to Peter Wolf Crier’s Garden of Arms album. I listen to anything from Hip-Hop to Folk. The only thing I don’t listen to is new Country music.
6.) Please disclose the most embarrassing music moment or concert you’ve attended or album you’ve bought (perhaps even shameful)?
When I was really young (before kindergarten…and maybe into kindergarten) I used to dress up as Garth Brooks and do Garth Brooks “concerts” for my family.
7.) What are your hobbies and interest?
I’m really interested in music…I think about music way too much. So that’s probably my main hobby. I enjoy having real conversations with people. I guess that’s sort of a hobby.
8.) When you are not at work or KVSC, where can you most likely be found?
During the week, I’m in class or at my apartment. If I could I’d be at more concerts.
9.) If it were the end of the world and you could only take five things with you, what would they be (BE HONEST)?
Hmmm…this is hard.
1. iPod (charger included)
2. My best friends
and Taco Bell and Olive Garden (the end of the world needs good food.)
10.) What do you think is the future of radio?
Internet Radio – I can imagine everything being transmitted over the internet in the future. Internet is in so many places already.
