1.) When did you get involved with 88.1 FM?
I have never done radio before so I went through deejay training my first semester as a freshmen in August 2009. I started deejaying on air in September 2009.
4.) Why are you involved with independent community radio at 88.1 FM?
I am a Mass Communications major and I’ve always had an interest in every aspect of that. I am going for broadcast journalism, but radio also has half of my heart! I think that learning all forms of Mass communications will only better me in whatever direction I choose to go with mass comm.
To be honest I have some Britney Spears in my CD player. I like to keep it old school. I've recently gotten into a group called Boyce Avenue. I love them.My favorite type of music is anything by Poison or Journey. I love all types of music. I'm a huge fan of the 80s hair band music. I enjoy almost every type of music. I have a deep appreciation for music in general. (I dislike screamo.)
6.) Please disclose the most embarrassing music moment or concert you’ve attended or album you’ve bought (perhaps even shameful)?
I think my most embarrassing music moment was last year when I did my afternoon progressive rock show on Wednesdays. I was filing my music away after my show and Linda was reading the news. My MP3 player on my cell phone went off and Britney Spears “3” started playing during the news.
7.) What are your hobbies and interests?
I’m interested in politics, world events, any type of writing, radio, broadcast journalism, listening to music, student government, journalism, and hanging out with my friends and family. I love collecting inspirational quotes...it's kind of an obession. I'm a huge movie person. I love putting on my pajamas, making a big bowl of popcorn, and surfing Netflix.
8.) When you are not at work or KVSC, where can you most likely be found?
I am super busy with many activities. I’m probably likely to be found on the SCSU campus either in my office at KVSC, or in the Student Government office. I don’t live on campus but some days it feels like it.
9.) If it were the end of the world and you could only take five things with you, what would they be (BE HONEST)?
That’s a really hard one. Assuming that my family would be with me, I would take my favorite pillow because I love sleeping, my promise ring because it means a lot to me, a picture of my family because if I can’t be with them I’d like something to remember them by, and a pen and a notebook because I’d like to record my thoughts, adventures, ideas, or events.
10.) What do you think is the future of radio?
I am not a radio expert, but I think that the future of radio looks bright. As long as there are people that are willing to listen and tune in, then there will always be a need to give the people something to listen to.
