Zack.JPG1.) When did you get involved with 88.1 FM?

I got involved in September of 2008 when I called a SCSU Soccer Game with now Training Director Ben Prchal. Then Sports Director Patrick Sullivan pushed me to broadcast the game, and well, I never stopped broadcasting sports after. The rest, well it's history...

2.) What show(s) do you currently host on KVSC and what programs have you hosted in the past?

I am currently the Co-Sports Director here at KVSC, so I host Husky Sports Friday and Sideline Reporters as well as provide Play-by-Play of live events. I also host the Late Night Progressive Rock Show on Thursday Nights. I pretty much do it all here at KVSC. You can ear me working road Men's Hockey games on KVSC as well as other sports events! I fill-in hosting both the 12pm and 4pm News Editions and you can find me often taking a music shift or two when need be!

3.) Please list some of the artists and musicians you consider to be a must play on your show(s)?

When I work a show, I will certainly have a good mix of music. I have really been enjoying several bands we have here at KVSC including Atmosphere, Band of Horses, The Black Keys, Boat, Brother Ali, King Khan and the BBQ Show, Eagles of Death Metal, Heatbox, Trampled by Turtles, Matisyahu, Janelle Monae, Sia, The Decemberists, and of course, a little MGMT! And oh yeah-FOXY SHAZAM is my JAM and Reel Big Fish has an AWESOME cover of "Talk Dirty to Me" by Poison that Assistant Program Director Ashli and I both plan to play the heck out of during our tenure at KVSC!

4.) Why are you involved with independent community radio at 88.1 FM?

Our coverage of Husky Hockey and SCSU sports is second to none. Our reporters get the interviews and information other stations don't and provide our listeners with a professional, quality broadcast. Being apart of this is my passion and the reason I came to KVSC.

As far as music goes, KVSC has introduced me to so many artists I never knew about and that is the beauty of it.

5.) What is in your personal CD player, iPod, or mp3 right now (BE HONEST)?

Oh I am a classic rock guy no doubt. You can usually hear me rocking our to Journey, Boston, REO Speedwagon, The Eagles, and a little hair bands in Posion and Motley Crew.

6.) Please disclose the most embarrassing music moment or concert you’ve attended or album you’ve bought (perhaps even shameful)?

I bought a Milli Vanilli cassette tape once. Enough said.

7.) What are your hobbies and interests?

I am a huge hockey fan and hope to gain a career in broadcasting the game I love. In my free time I follow the St. Louis Blues, Minnesota Twins, my hometown KC Royals and sports in general. In my free time you can find me rocking to tunes or just chilling with friends.

8.) When you are not at work or KVSC, where can you most likely be found?

I would probably be at National Hockey Center where I call Play-by-Play for Husky Productions Televison on Charter Communcations TV. If I am not there, I am at my apartment just enjoying the little free time I have!

9.) If it were the end of the world and you could only take five things with you, what would they be (BE HONEST)?

This is a tough one for sure. I think I would take my iPod because I would need music to get me through the tough times and pull me through. Other than that, I would probably wind up taking 4 friends or family members with me. Material objects are nice, but friends and family would certainly be the ones I would want to spend time with.

10.) What do you think is the future of radio?

The future of radio is bright. While may claim that radio is on its way out because of iPods or whatnot, I believe it is still a staple in lots of people's lives. I think we will see some sort of HD radio make a push, but I believe people like me will be rocking the airwaves for years to come with tunes, news and sports.
