The Morrison County Historical Society is holding an event perfect for both beginning and experienced gardeners. On Saturday, May 19, MCHS is hosting a Plant & Seed Sale at The Charles A. Weyerhaeuser Memorial Museum from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. The event will feature guest speaker Dr. Mary Hockenberry Meyer at 1 p.m. Dr. Meyer is a professor of horticultural science at the University of Minnesota and co-author of “Ten Plants That Changed Minnesota.” Morrison County gardening enthusiasts will also be on hand to share their gardening expertise. The sale will include perennials and native prairie seed that has been harvested locally. Some of the prairie seed was harvested by Doug Ploof’s Little Falls High School natural resources class from prairie areas at the Weyerhaeuser Museum. For gardeners unfamiliar with tending prairie plants, information on how to propagate the seeds will be available.
