Moliere's Tartuffe Performed by the St. Cloud State University Theater Department

In this episode of the Untold Stories of Central Minnesota, Arts and Cultural Heritage Producer Jeff Carmack once again heads down to St. Cloud State University’s Theater Department to talk with Vladimir Rovinsky, Hunter Goldsmith, Abigail Oelke on the eve of the premier of their production of Moliere’s controversial play Tartuffe.

Originally performed in 1664, Tartuffe is the story of a smooth talking con man who uses religion and piety to manipulate a middle class family. The French government at the time not only banned the play, but anyone who saw or even read the play was threatened with excommunication from the church.

This program is supported in part by a grant from the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Legacy Fund.
