St. Cloud State Volleyball Ends Season with Sweep of U-Mary
Kuglin terminated her 500th career kill on Senior Day

St. Cloud State Volleyball (15-10, 11-9) closed their 2018 campaign with a sweep over the University of Mary (4-24, 1-19) on Saturday, 25-15, 25-22, and 25-15.

The 11 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference victories are a program record.

On Senior Day, the Huskies were fittingly led by their two seniors. Krista Kuglin killed 9 balls on .304 hitting, and recorded her 500th career kill in the match. Fellow senior Micah Nier put down 8 kills to go with 3 blocks, 2 aces, and 1 dig.

Abby Templin led all scorers with 10 kills on .421 hittig and added 3 blocks. Maddy Torve assisted on 36 kills and double-doubled with 12 digs. Freshman Bella Erne posted a 6-0-10 line with a career-high 10 digs off the bench, and junior libero Clara Krenz paced the defense with 18 digs.

U-Mary received 9 kills from Morgan Schnabel, along with senior Geovana Almeida's 15 digs.

Although the Huskies missed the NSIC Tournament, 2018 was a season full of both current success and promise for the bright future of the program. SCSU earned their first two ranked victories in over two decades with wins over #6 UMD and #12 SMSU. Clara Krenz (NSIC Libero of the Year) and Linsey Rachel (NSIC Freshman of the Year) became the first two major conference award winners in program history.
