When and why did you get involved with 88.1 FM? When I first toured the campus I saw a poster for KVSC and wanted to get involved. It was then my first day as a freshman on campus when I signed up to DJ.
What show(s) do you currently host on KVSC? Indie Brunch
Please list some of the artists and musicians that you consider a must-play on your show(s). I love to play laufey, boygenius, peach pit, thee scared souls, japanese breakfast, blood orange, and so much more.
What music do you listen to when you’re not tuned into KVSC? I love listening to indie, goth, rnb, metal, rock you name it, and I listen to it. I am always listening to music so I like to switch it up a lot. But growing up my parents had me listening to everthing from Jimmy Buffet to Led Zepplin. Some of my favortie groups/artists include hozier, mitski, hippo campus, michelle, the cure, sza, thunder cat, lamp, kendrick lamar, mazzy star, david bowie, and so many more.
What is the most embarrassing (perhaps even shameful) music phase you have gone through? For me it was my nightcore phase in middle school. But that was just the beginning.
What are your hobbies and/or interests? I love all kinds of art. So I enjoy drawing and painting. I also love to read. I am always at a bookstores looking for new things to read. In my free time I like to play guitar and video games. And the most recent hobby I’ve picked up is crocheting.
When you are not at work or KVSC where can you most likely be found? I can almost always be found listening to music wherever I go. I never leave home without my headphones. I love a good nature walk.
What’s the most challenging part of being a radio DJ? Learning to run the board and feeling comfortable on air.
What would you like to be doing in five years? In five years I hope to have graduated with my bachelors degree and have a good job. And ideally traveling with my pet turtle.
