Archived: Driver Sought in Interstate Death

The Minnesota State Patrol is asking for the public’s help in identifying a vehicle that was involved in a crash that killed a pedestrian Thursday night. The crash occurred in the westbound lanes of Interstate 94 just outside of Clearwater at about 9:20pm. The State Patrol reports that a man ran into traffic and was hit by a semi-truck that was trying to avoid him. Another vehicle described as a silver 2001 to 2004 Dodge Caravan ran over the man and left the scene. The man was killed at the scene. I-94 was shut down for several hours while the investigation was underway. The State Patrol says the van likely has front-end damage from a previous incident due to duct tape on the vehicle’s bumper which was found at the site. Any information regarding the crash should be directed to the State Patrol St. Cloud District at 320-255-2916.
