The Snake River Fur Post in Pine River is hosting its annual Winter Frolic, an afternoon of outdoor fun and activities for all ages to enjoy while learning about Minnesota history.

The whole family can partake in educational and interactive winter festivities. You’ll learn about winter travel during the fur trade in the early 19th century, try tossing a curling stone, and play a round of the Ojibwe snow snake game.

There will b additional opportunities to explore the fur post include snowshoeing around the site’s trails. Guided tours of the Fur Post run every 30 minutes are starting at noon, with the final tour beginning at 3 p.m.. There are also indoor options, like warming up around the fire with a cup of cocoa in the visitor center.

The Winter Frolic is from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, January 21st.
