Archived: Football Wins Fifth Straight, 31-17 over MSU-Mankato

Wide Receiver Fred Williams keeps adding to the record books and the St. Cloud State football team continues to find themselves in the win column. The Huskies won their fifth straight game Saturday, with a 31-17 victory over Minnesota State-Mankato, spoiling the Mavericks homecoming. Williams continued to be the favorite target downfield and made six catches and scored two touchdowns for the Huskies.

With his catch on the first touchdown, Williams became SCSU’s all-time leader in receiving yards. The previous title was held by John Kimbrough with 2,878 yards.

Dante Steward also lead the Huskies on the ground with 99 rushing yards, and quarterback Phillp Klaphake threw for three touchdowns and 205 yards.

The Huskies are now 5-1 on the season and 5-0 in the NSIC. They return home this weekend to do battle with Southwest Minnesota State University at 1 P.M. Saturday. You can hear that game right here on 88.1 FM KVSC- Dave Overlund has the call.
