Archived: Husky Soccer Splits at Home
It was a tale of two games this past weekend for the St. Cloud State soccer team as they took down Upper Iowa in dramatic fashion on Friday but fell to Winona State on Sunday.
Junior forward Alex Pafko put the ball in the back of the net with just 18 seconds left in overtime in Friday’s game against Upper Iowa to give the Huskies the win. Pafko’s sixth goal of the season put SCSU one game above .500 on the season and in the conference.
The Huskies’ record went back to .500 however as they were shut out by the Warriors of Winona State on Sunday 2-0 at Husky Stadium. The two goals were the most given up by SCSU all season long.
Freshman keeper Molly Bender made five saves in the loss for the Huskies, falling to 3-2 on the season. The Huskies are now 6-6 overall and 4-4 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
