Archived: SCSU Football Takes Down Bemidji State
The St. Cloud State football team got back to their winning ways this past weekend as they defeated Bemidji State 35-14 in the 2010 home finale.
A week after getting blown out by Minnesota Duluth, the Huskies used a strong first half effort to silence the Beavers and play the second half in cruise control. SCSU got their scoring going in the first quarter on Damon Treat’s 69-yard touchdown run. The freshman running back used a nice cutback move to get past the defense and score his first of two touchdowns on the game.
The Huskies scored three times in the second quarter to take a 28-0 halftime lead and never look back. Quarterback Phillip Klaphake completed 8-of-14 passes for 154 yards and a touchdown in the win while his favorite target, receiver Fred Williams, had four grabs for 99 yards and a score.
SCSU is now 8-2 overall and 8-1 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, in sole possession of second place in the NSIC North Division. The Huskies will take on MSU-Moorhead in the season finale next weekend in Moorhead. Kick-off is set for 1 p.m.
