St. Cloud State Softball finished up the regular season on a 6-game winning streak giving them an overall record of 40-14 and a conference record of 22-8. They now will head down to Rochester at the RYFSA Complex for the NSIC Tournament.
They head into game one of the double elimination style tournament as the #4 seed and will be taking on the #5 seeded Mankato State Mavericks who SCSU swept this year by scores of 1-0 and 3-2 in 9 innings. First pitch is slated for 12 p.m. live on 88.1 FM KVSC.
Assuming the Huskies win, they’ll be off the rest of the day and will most likely take on the # 1 team in the conference, Winona State, on Friday at noon. However, if the Huskies were to fall to Mankato, they would go on over to the consolation bracket where they would play again on Thursday at 4 p.m.
If St. Cloud stays in the winners bracket and upset Winona State, they would play at 4 p.m. on Friday for a chance to play in the championship game on Saturday at 2 p.m.
Looking at if they were to lose to Winona, they would play again at 2 p.m. on Friday where they would be one win away from elimination.
Winning the 2 p.m. game Friday would mean having to play at 10 a.m. Saturday and in order to play in the championship game, they would have to win the morning game and win at 12 p.m.
SCSU is the #3 hitting and pitching team in the conference this year finishing top 3 in batting average, homeruns, and RBI’s while finishing 3rd in team ERA.
All the games will be covered either on the KVSC Sports Stream or on the airwaves of 88.1 FM KVSC with Collin Rutkowski on the call.
