The Husky Dome Has Been Taken Down For The Summer
Temperatures are on the rise, but the Husky Dome is coming down.
St. Cloud State started the tear down of the Husky Dome at 6 a.m. earlier today with over 200 athletes, coaches, staff, and volunteers helping to take it down.
SCSU Assistant Football Coach, Steve Grimit, has been in charge the putting up and tearing down of the dome for the last 14 years. he says “It’s really a group effort, we even had the Athletic Director Heather Weems out here this morning…it’s really an all hands on deck kind of day”. Coach Grimit said it usually takes 7 hours to tear down which is nothing in comparison to putting it up where it can go from 6 in the morning, until midnight.
SCSU Football Sophomore Guard, Chris Antoine, says “It takes a lot of man power, putting it up takes so many people and if you don’t have those people it is one of the hardest jobs you’ve ever done”. Antoine adds that it was fun to be out there to meet other athletes on campus and seeing the finished product is very rewarding.
Husky Stadium will be free of the dome sometime this afternoon. For information on when the field will be open for SCSU students contact Campus Recreation at 320-308-3325 or email them at campusrec@stcloudstate.edu.
